MAINAX Virtual Engineering offers technical consultancy services using computer simulation techniques.
It was founded in 2000 by Maarten van Donselaar and Nijs van der Mei, both at the time employed by a large Dutch organization for applied research. They had been active in computer simulations for several years, since 1996 on a professional basis and as free-lance activity.
Main motivation for starting a new, small and dynamic company was the desire to focus on the process of Virtual Engineering itself, without the overhead inherent to large organisations. This step has allowed us to be very flexible and forthcoming to our customer's needs and desires.

In our definition, Virtual Engineering encompasses the complete range of design, performance assessment and tuning of (mechatronic) systems with the aid of computer simulations. Strong emphasis is placed on the validation of the models and eventual integration of the systems in the real world, including real-time applications.
